As we speed towards Christmas, Hog Roast Ickleford’s caterers have been as busy as Santa’s elves, only instead of making and wrapping presents, we’ve been giving people the gift of great-tasting food!
With everyone excited about the holidays, our services have been in extremely high demand, meaning we’ve had the pleasure of assisting with all kinds of seasonal celebrations recently! Only a few days ago, we catered at our first school Christmas party of the year, which saw us serve our phenomenal Festive Menu to a large group of students at one of the nearby high schools!
The kids had been allowed to vote on a theme for their school dance, and winter wonderland had won the popular vote by a landslide. This saw their school gymnasium decorated with a sheet of fake snow and white Christmas trees wrapped in fairy lights. Giving the room a more wintery atmosphere, the overhead lights were blue-tinted, and a snowflake projector was used to pull everything together. The PTA had also organised for a DJ to perform Christmas classics and popular dance tracks on the night, which had everyone racing to the dancefloor in no time at all!
Daniel, Hog Roast Ickleford’s catering manager, had our team set up the buffet table at the back of the room so as not to draw attention away from the celebrations – but that didn’t mean our food wasn’t noticed! The delicious fragrances from the moist and tender turkey filled the air, and no one could resist following the gorgeous aroma!
The students excitedly filled their plates with turkey slices, sage and onion stuffing and cranberry sauce, which they paired with our winter-warming cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and glazed seasonal vegetables. A drizzle of our homemade gravy made everything complete.
Our grilled vegetable and halloumi kebabs with sweet chilli sauce were a popular choice among the vegetarian and vegan guests, who also enjoyed the vegetarian-friendly mini quiches, mini pizzas and the Indian selection, which our team had presented on a grazing table along with crusty bread rolls, Hog Roast Ickleford’s homemade mince pies and a mountain of sweets and cakes supplied by the school.
