Time to wrap up in Westmill

The weather has certainly changed and this weekend was the first time we had to wrap up with our winter thermals under our Spitting Pig uniforms.
After spending and a few days of the week cleaning and maintaining our hog roast machines and keeping them in tip top condition, we then spent a couple of days visiting clients for future hog roast Westmill catering in November and Wedding catering again in Westmill next summer.
On Friday Spitting Pig headed off to provide hog roast catering. Once again we have been invited back to the bowls club to their big annual horse racing night. It is an evening we really enjoy and the crowd that attend year on year are a great bunch. We decided for the first time since April to attach the sides to our catering marquee….. A desperate attempt to keep a bit of warmth in the catering area while we work. Normally we provide a range of salads to compliment the hog roast, but this time they had opted for roast potatoes to go with the mouth watering pork and crunchy golden crackling.
As usual i had a bet on every race and yet again i could not pick a winner, in fact not even close ! Better luck next time !!
Spitting Pig Hertfordshire can often be seen providing high quality hog roast catering in Westmill and the surrounding areas and we were back again on Saturday. We were again in Wardown Park and literally the other side of a hedge providing a succulent hog roast. The weather had turned for the worse on Saturday and luckily there was a large shelter attached to the club and we set up our equipment in a nice sheltered area away from the wind.
Guests were eagerly waiting about an hour before serve time and hovering around catering area and warming them selves on our hog roast Westmill machine. As we lifted the hog into the carving position ready for serving, we were inundated with volunteers to test the crispy golden crackling. Now the problem when we start this is every one wants some and before we knew it there were was a queue of testers to try our perfect crispy crackling. There were gasps of delight as people were remarking ooh my god…. this is just amazing….. How do you do it ??
Well we know and that’s our secret. It really is quite easy actually with our Titan hog roast Westmill machines and we get it right just about every time. If you want a hog roast with the tastiest perfect crackling then call us sooner than later as next year we are sure to get booked up quick again.
We were also hog roast catering at the Ramada Cromwell Hotel.
We were the centre of attention cooking a 60kg hog for Suzanne’s wedding.
As i said earlier, the elements were against us this weekend. We had set up our catering tent and as it was on concrete, we weighed the legs down with weights.
Unfortunately this was not enough and a freak gust off wind lifted our tent into the air with our chefs clinging to the legs. Unfortunately the tent did not survive the impact and is now a buckled and mangled mess which will need a bit of attention before it can be used again.
Still the show must go on and we found a sheltered area to carry on and braved the elements . Our equipment is very mobile so we simply adapted the serving strategy and set up the serving area inside the hotel. Our skilled chefs simply carved out side and the meat was placed in chaffing dishes to keep it piping hot and the meal was served inside.
No matter what can go wrong on the day and some times things do not go as planned, there is always a solution.
Our chefs are very skilled at what we do. Not only are our chefs great at cooking but are able to think on their feet. You can be assured when we turn up at your event we have the skills and expertise to ensure your event goes well.
We also enjoyed a great evening hog roast catering in another town nearby…. we were providing a hog roast with the usual golden crunchy crackling served in fresh flour baps with apple sauce and hot sage and onion stuffing. The theme was M or W at Martins 30th birthday hog roast Birthday party.
All Martins guests did him proud and there were some great efforts by his mates with their costumes.
What we really enjoy about our job is we are always at a party and the atmosphere is usually great and this was no exception. Fancy dress parties are a favourite for me as well. Friends, colleagues and family don’t have to hold back and can just let them selves go and once your costume is on you almost become an other person and take on the role of your fancy dress subject.
If Martin reads this… you looked great as the mad hatter and your girl friends mermaid outfit was a hit.
We always enjoy a bit of banter while we are serving and when wonder woman arrived for her pig in a bun i informed her she would only get served if she gave us a twirl while singing the theme tune. She eagerly started spinning and singing wonder woman. There were some great costumes and the guests made a great attempt at eating the hog roast.
We always supply a quality out door bred hog around 50kg (obviously bigger if numbers are over 100) for all events up to 100 guests. If the numbers are lower such as around seventy as it was at Martins hog roast birthday party, we will carve all left over meat for you to keep. As our hogs are as fresh as can be, any left over can be frozen and kept for a future day. After washing our machines and clearing up our waste we discretely headed home and left the party in full swing.
We were asked to vote on the best costume of the night so here is my vote in reverse order from third to the winner.
In third place …….. Mr Motivator… Got to say you were brave to wear those skin tight leggings on such a cold night !
In second place…. Bob Marley… How did you keep that joint in your mouth all night !
Brandon and I both agreed that Minnie Mouse really did it for us so we both would give Minnie first prize….. if only i had a mouse trap!!!! Well done.
Whether your future event is a Birthday, Wedding or any excuse to get your mates round your house for a party then a hog roast is the simple solution to your catering.
We are now taking bookings for next summer and already have a booking for the summer of 2014 and are already fully booked on some days during June, July and August so if you are considering a hog roast in Watford or a spit roast lamb in Buntingford then call us soon before you miss out on Hertfordshire No 1 hog roast catering company.
