We’re nearing the end Of December now and we have about half a dozen more functions before we have a break over Christmas and New Year. I received an enquiry for a hog roast Frogmore (Our hog roast menu 2 which is the pig in a bun snack menu with includes a nice fresh salad, homemade coleslaw and homemade potato salad) from Matt for December 17 and thought wow…. He’s keen to book for December next year.
Generally I like to speak to people as well as communicating by email as it gives you, the customer, confidence that we are real people and that you are safe booking with us. So after a call and a couple of emails I arranged to pop over and see Matt as he was concerned where I would be setting up in the back garden for the hog roast in Frogmore.
More often than not, the set up for a hog roast catering event in Frogmore is straight forward but if you are concerned about space or access problems, I am more than happy to visit and make sure the event can go ahead rather than turn up on the day and find there is a major problem and risk the possibility of the event not going ahead.
Access was not easy as it was quite a steep slope up to the side gate and then a flight of steps to the back garden, but the patio was perfect and I assured Matt and Charlotte there would be no problem. Their other concern was the wind as the garden was just a patio with no grass to peg a marquee down, but again I assured them that our catering gazebo would be weighted down and there would not be a problem and I would pencil them in for next December for the Frogmore hog roast catering. I joked that I had never had anyone book a year in advance for a winter hog roast event and they must be the most organised people I have come across…… Matt replied ‘It is for this Saturday, It’s a bit short notice (four days) and something we just thought would be a good idea to have and I have put the wrong year…..Can you still do it?’
That’s why good communication is vital and this is something that could have easily been overlooked by just a couple of emails flying back and forth and no real conversation between real people. So the hog roast in Frogmore was penciled in the diary for four days’ time, and after a quick call to Mike, who supply our tasty hogs and other meat products, the hog was ordered and an extra little piggy will go to market ready for a spit roast in Frogmore.
On the day, we set up nice and early, fired up the hog roast machine and the pig started slowly roasting over the flames and the garden was soon engulfed with the aroma of roasting pork. We set about preparing the salads to accompany the hog roast in Frogmore, just a simple snack menu for friends and family. We made up a nice fresh salad with everything in it, full of flavours and a secret little addition of sweet chilli pearls which have a little kick and give a salad the bit of bite! Also on the menu was homemade coleslaw which just looks as good as it tastes, crunchy fresh carrot, white and red cabbage, onions and seasoned to perfection, and also potato salad… When this is homemade and done well, it tastes just amazing!!
The serving tables were set, the hog was roasting, salads were made and there is still about three and a half hours before serve time. Normally, towards the end of December we would have the side on the marquee and would now be pressing ourselves up against the machine to try and keep warm, but not this week. The temperature is 19 degrees….. This is crazy!! 19 degrees C in December!!
People arrived from about 6:30pm and the patio was soon filled with guest’s in short sleeved shirts, summer blouses and not a coat in sight, and the party was in full swing, outside in the evening on a barmy warm evening in December.
The weather is definitely helping the party season to get longer and longer and whereas a few years ago, the summer season started slowing down in mid-September, we are now finding we are in demand until the end of October and then things start to slow down before a Christmas hog roast rush in mid-December.
The guests loved the hog and salads and we received so many great compliments as people came back for seconds and thirds and even then came back for scratchings of crackling and shavings of crispy pork.
The night was a huge success for Mark and Charlotte and the added bonus of being able to party outside on a warm December evening really made the whole day perfect. Hog roast catering in Frogmore really is the perfect solution to help make your next event the party that everyone is talking about for all the right reasons.
