Today we are catering for Mick, He has organised a memorial rugby match and a hog roast evening with entertainment for Old Abbottstonians Rugby Club.
The snow around Hertfordshire and around London is great if your out with the kids, sledging on one of the many golf courses nearby. But today we are on are way to Hayes if we can get out of Hemel Hempstead. The roads are a sheet of ice and cars are abandoned all over the place.
We set off at about 8:00am, don’t want to take any chances with time and would rather be there an hour or so earlier than cut it too fine. The M25 is good surprisingly and we meet Mick bang on time at 9:00am at the rugby club which is about 6 inches deep in snow.
Mick directs us around the back of the club, where we are going to set up. We start with shovelling the snow from where we are going to put up our pop up catering marquee (it’s a good job I took the advice from Dan the weather man on the beeb and packed a shovel and broom and plenty of salt)
6 meters by 3 meters by 6 inches is a lot of snow and although it’s about -5 degrees I’m soon pretty hot clearing our catering area.
