There wasn’t a bale of hay or a feeding bag in sight at the converted stables the Hog Roast Royston team found ourselves in last weekend when we were asked to cater for a wedding reception there! Having been very tastefully restored, the stables have retained a certain rustic charm that remind everyone of their original use, whilst being cleverly decorated with a few modern touches that have transformed it into a lovely venue for wedding receptions! With their venue’s nod to the past and embrace of a more modern approach in mind, Nicki and Rob, the bride and groom, decided Hog Roast Royston would be the ideal caterers for their big day in such a venue, because we are known for our winning combination of traditional cooking methods and mouth-watering modern menus!
Their menu of choice began with a tasty combination of nibbles from our extensive selection of handmade canapes, including mini Peking duck wraps, tiger prawns, smoked salmon and pate en croute. For the starter, the couple opted for our crowd-pleasing homemade soup, followed by one of our legendary hog roasts with feta skewers for the vegetarian option, with our individual cheesecakes and creamy profiteroles to complete a truly delightful wedding menu! As if all that wasn’t enough, we even dressed and served their wedding cake and provided our own front of house and waiting staff to meet, greet and seat all of the guests and ensure all their needs were met throughout the day!
The venue may have had a rustic vibe, but there was certainly nothing rustic about the elegant food we served up, with many of the guests marvelling at how we had managed to produce such a meal without having a huge kitchen and an army of staff behind the scenes! With caterers who can multitask to the max and such versatile cooking equipment at our disposal, we don’t need a huge entourage or masses of cooking paraphernalia to whip up a fabulous meal in a converted stable, or anywhere else for that matter! The newlyweds were full of praise for the Hog Roast Royston team and thanked us for giving them the freedom to have their wedding reception in their ideal venue without having to compromise on the quality of the food!
