Today’s event is perfect actually. We are set up on a covered patio and although it’s cold and wet, there’s no wind and we will stay nice and dry. As the members arrived they had coffees and bacon rolls that were provided from the cafe on site and then the competition started.
We changed the menu slightly for today’s hog roast Markyate, because we knew it would be a cold morning. Along with the succulent spit roast with the most amazing golden crackling, freshly made warm apple sauce with just a touch of cinnamon for that great taste, and sage and onion stuffing, we served a nice green salad with a few hidden surprises that really got the gun club members taste buds excited. We also provided freshly made coleslaw, which is just so crunchy and compliments the pork so well, and hot new roasted potatoes with rosemary and garlic, which just made this the perfect winter warmer hog roast in Markyate.
Shooting must build up an appetite as all 150 guests tucked into buns loaded with the mouth-watering pork, helpings of salads and delicious roasted new potatoes infused with the subtle flavours of garlic and rosemary. After everyone had eaten, members wandered back and were treated to a plate more for the road!!
