Hog Roast Fireworks Extravaganza

Spitting Pig Hertfordshire were once again busy over the Halloween and fire works night weekend with several teams of our chefs providing scrumptious hog roasts around Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire on a chilly and rather damp weekend. The evenings are definitely starting to turn colder now and once again the winter thermals are needed while catering for private parties and corporate events.
Spitting Pig Hertfordshire were invited back again to cater for Imagination Technologies, a leading company in the manufacture of mobile graphics and microprocessor chip technology, based in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. Their components can be found in everything from mobile phones, gaming machines and in car navigation
In the past, we have provided hog roasts, spit roast chicken and BBQ’S with all the trimmings as well as an array of delicious home made salads accompanied by hot new potatoes.
sp herts fireworksMark Roost… IMG’s sports and social clubs organiser of events, asked us to come up with some thing a little different this year as the weather had turned and he wanted some thing a little more warming for the staff as they watched the fire work display and listened to the band that were knocking out hit after hit, while the bangers and crackers seemed to dance to their music in the clear dark skies.
We decided to go for a menu of home made vegetable or tomato and basil soup for starters just to keep people warm as they started to gather for the evening.
This was followed by chilli hot dogs…large frankfurters in a freshly baked 11” baguette topped with home made chilli sauce and then a sprinkle of grated cheese and red onion and of course some nice hot jalapeno peppers just to give it a bit of a kick. For the veggies that braved the cold, we provided enormous baked potatoes that were cooked to perfection… crispy on the out side and just so soft and fluffy on the inside they just melted in your mouth. The potatoes were served with either the cheese or baked beans. Of course many meat eaters could not resist the baked spuds and came back for seconds and topped the jackets with the chilli and cheese.
During the dazzling fire work display and the band played their last few numbers, we served hot mulled wine to the guests as they huddled around the patio chatting to each other. I’m not sure how strong the mulled wine was, but every one had glowing faces and looked rather well for it. Many kept coming back for refills and when we left in the evening there were quite a few cars left in the car park so I’m sure the warming mulled wine was quite a hit.
It was nice to offer a different menu and I am quite sure that Mark and his guests enjoyed the food and drink we provided for the fire work display at Kings Langley Cricket club.
If you are thinking of a hog roast, lamb spit roast or even turkey spit roast for the festive season, or a menu such as the chilli hot dog and mulled wine for your winter party, then give Spitting Pig Hertfordshire a call and get us to take care of the catering at your next event and leave you to enjoy the evening with out having to worry about the food and washing up!!.
